OUR MISSION

The Community College Leadership Academy develops transformational leaders who inspire others, elevate excellence, and drive positive change in higher education and beyond.

OUR VISION

As a recognized leader in transformative leadership development, the Community College Leadership Academy prepares purpose-driven and forward-thinking leaders who strengthen institutions, empower communities, and shape the future of higher education.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Community College Leadership Academy develops transformational leadership through purposeful engagement, mentorship, and reflective practice -  empowering leaders to create lasting, positive impact as agents of opportunity and transformation in higher education and their communities.

The Community College Leadership Academy (CCLA) is more than a professional development program - it is a catalyst for cultivating the next generation of leaders who will shape the future of community colleges. Rooted in transformational leadership, CCLA equips participants with the leadership mindset, strategic insight, and practical skills to navigate the complex landscape of higher education, empowering them to take on this responsibility with vision, skill, and confidence.

PROGRAM OPPORTUNITES

Testimonials

Shortly after stepping into my first administrative position at a community college, I became acutely aware that my academic preparation for the promotion lacked any substantive direction in how to be a good manager, supervisor, or transformative leader.  I also knew that I had a responsibility to those whom I was to lead to be effective in my new role.  It was a year-long, cohort-based leadership development program which filled this gap in my own professional and personal development.  Now a college president, I continue to rely upon the lessons learned and insights gained.  Perhaps even more importantly, I still cherish the friendships I made with my fellow participants as we completed the academy experience together.

As an organizational leader, I have sponsored participation in many of these Academies. The connections, reflections, and learning are integral to our leadership growth strategy.

Today’s Academy graduates are tomorrows college executives driving culture, strategy, and student success. These leadership academies are instrumental to Western’s organizational development strategy.
